The DC Inventory and Planning team is responsible to ensure healthy inventory and SKU levels in all distribution centers (DCs) across the European network to guarantee its optimal utilization as a basis for European SCM target achievements (especially product availability, SLA performance, costs and achievement of the IBP).

The Manager DC Planning serves as the expert within the EU SCM organization creating end-to-end throughput simulations, scenario plans, identifying risks/opportunities and as a decisive supply chain planner recommending mitigation/optimization action.

This role will maintain and continuously improve planning processes, tools, an efficient control system to ensure overall transparency and visibility on the utilization of DC capacities. This to ensure SLA compliant deliveries and minimized costs across Europe – all on operational and tactical level.

In order to generate supply chain efficiencies, identify improvement/optimization opportunities and create transparency within the EU SCM organization and its stakeholders, this function provides valuable insights on the health of the DC network as is the foundation for decision making to Senior Leadership teams. Therefore, the position needs to combine broad theoretical and practical knowledge incl. company as well as SCM policies and practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect and coordinate all data inputs required for an end-to-end DC Network view (inbound, storage, outbound) for each DC in the European network as Input. Analyze, challenge, and work closely with all stakeholders in the process to ensure common understanding
  • Create and ensure that the projected flow of goods is reflecting latest status and captures all ongoing actions/simulations that enable DCs to operate in the most effective and efficient manner including process optimization and compliance
  • Own and drive healthy DC outlooks by highlighting need for actions, provide proposals to mitigate threats to guarantee that omni-channel demand can be fulfilled on time and in full to minimized costs; all in a non-standard solutions environment
  • Work independent and collaborative in nature with stakeholders; influence to accept modified standards or created concepts. Be precise as errors have substantial impact to organization and the overall Supply Chain in Europe.
  • Presentation of projected outlook towards SCM senior management and alignment on required support/actions in the monthly planning review meeting
  • Bi-weekly monitoring of supply, demand and capacity developments
  • Act as interface between key stakeholders within SCM and drive/coordinate mitigation actions
  • Ensure that decisions and plans are executed
  • Own and manage reintegration of excess stock (e.g. dedicated cancellations) from cross dock facilities or storage locations to create availability
    • Own process and lead alignment with affected parties (e.g. 3 PL OPS, Finance, Transport)
    • Create transparency on volumes and status
    • Create plan given priorities and follow up on execution
  • Support deployment department on identifying best DC for Factory Outlet volumes and ensure outbound forecast fully considers existing inventory and planned supply; support deployment and planning of volumes from market-to-market transfers
  • Prepare reports/data for business decision support and provide analytical support for ad hoc data requests
  • Investigate operational needs, problems and opportunities, contributing to the continuous improvement of current processes
  • Lead projects related to short/mid-term Distribution Network Utilization & mitigation in Europe

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Strategic thinking and developing innovative solutions within a complex/changing environment
    • Able to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing (also to SLT up to VP level)
    • Operations as well as commercial mind set, end-to-end thinking
    • Stakeholder management and ability to influence with conflicting goals/priorities
    • In depth knowledge of supply chain mechanics and flow of goods

    • Ability to prioritize, manage and complete activities within deadlines

    • Strong competence and experience in MS Office
    • Micro-Strategy and SAP knowledge desirable
    • Fluent in English (verbal and written)

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications
    • College or university degree with focus on Logistics, Supply Chain Management or equivalent education
    • 5+ years of related work experience in international and/or cross-functional teams, preferably in a Supply Chain Management function
